Individual and Family Therapy

When high conflict is recognized between the parents prior to, during or after separation and divorce, it is so vital for all the family relationships to reduce the conflict and improve what all children need:  a) love and attention from both parents; and b) a co-parenting relationship which restores a child’s confidence, minimizes fear for change, and to know that the parents’ love for their children remain unwavering.  Because that is what research shows to be in the child’s best interests for mental health and emotional well-being.

Therapy is very important in helping individuals cope with anxiety, depression, sadness.  Trust has frequently disappeared as much as mutual friends have.  So therapy is a special tool in finding understanding, adapting to life changes, and seeking meaning and improved satisfaction with existing and new relationships.

For those who struggle with these goals, let us help you. Clients may choose to have parenting guidance and therapeutic interventions.

Individual and Family Therapy is available to help parents, individually and together, to help parents strengthen their ability to better understand their emotional circumstances, and to prepare for successful mediation as co-parents.  They can to build upon their spousal or children’s relationships, and to improve their child’s state of being.

For children, their mental health needs to be central to the divorce.  Frequently, too, a child may feel blame for their parents’ separation and may have difficulty functioning in school, at home, with their friends. Children often feel the need to choose sides, to believe that the responsibility for saving what is left of the family is their responsibility. That was a large family is now disjointed, divided.

Their life is changed, as the parent’s lives have changed. Relationships with grandparents which must be preserved are interrupted.
